“The secret to getting ahead is getting started.” – Mark Twain
Wanting to be an entrepreneur while fearing failure is a contradiction that can’t exist in the same plan. I realized within a month that I had to start immediately—because if I didn’t, I might never start at all. By jumping in headfirst, I never stopped to look down and question whether the ground was still there. That was the only way I knew I could launch my first business. After all, to become a serial entrepreneur, you first have to become an entrepreneur.
I know where I want to go in my career, but the exact path isn’t always clear. That comes with both pros and cons—on one hand, endless opportunities; on the other, too many choices. To counter this, I built myself a safety net. To me, a safety net is something that will always be there, no matter what. B.B. King once said, “Education is the one thing that no one can take away from you.” Completing my degree and earning certifications ensure that no matter where my entrepreneurial journey takes me, I always have something solid to fall back on.
This knowledge doesn’t just give me security—it gives me confidence. By understanding what could go wrong, I can prepare for it. And with that understanding, I took the leap.
